Hello, my name is Michael Cercado. I am one of three current assistant English language teachers working at Namiki Secondary School. I am from Seattle, USA and my family is from the Philippines. But before working in Japan, I used to work at an emergency hospital as a health information technician, and I was also pursuing an acting career in theatre.
For teaching English, I like to incorporate acting and theater work to promote creativity and improve speaking and presentation skills. In classes, we do many activities like quiz students on their reading comprehension, read scripts to work on communication and write their opinions with short answer questions.
During my free time, I like to play the piano, draw, watch movies, ride my bicycle and kickbox. And at Namiki Secondary, I enjoy teaching English to the many smart and hardworking students at our school.
Hello, my name is Madeleine Deel, but my students and peers call me Maddie. I am from the United States from a city called Allen just north of Dallas Texas. I received my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in chemistry in 2022 while completing undergraduate research on cetacean reproduction. Before working in Japan I was a veterinary technician. Some of my hobbies include playing video games, reading, and fishing.
I am currently working at Namiki and I hope to continue assisting my teachers and students as they continue to pursue their English learning. I am hoping to set a good example for students as a native speaker as well as providing them with a more thorough understanding of english language practices in day to day life.
